Reblogged from Choose your last words, this is the last time.
A lot has changed since I last regularly posted on Tumblr.
Aside from a few posts in September, I’ve not really posted much. It’s a bit of a strange feeling, missing something that is right there in front of you. I do miss it, a lot - every now and then I look up and see Tumblr in my bookmarks bar and think ‘I might as well move it from there because I don’t go on it anymore’ - but I can’t do that, I don’t want to do that; I want to use it.
It’s like when you see a diary or a journal when you’re out shopping and you think ‘I’d love to start a diary’ - so you get one, only to have it sit on your shelf with the only attention being paid towards it being ‘I’ll write in that later’, except ‘later’ never seems to come, as much as you have time for it, and you still want to write in it.
A lot has happened since I would regularly submit hundreds of posts per month. In July I finally left my job, it was a little bit sad leaving, which really surprised me as I didn’t like it there and couldn’t wait to move on, it was the job itself, the people were nice - which is probably what kept me there that long. One day, an email came through with a meeting set for about September 19th, and I remember staring at the date and hearing the voice in my head say ‘You will not be here to go to that meeting, you will have left by then’. Of course, I didn’t know I would’ve gone, that was just the aim.
I succeeded; by September 19th, I wasn’t at that meeting. Nor was I at home trawling job search pages; I had secured myself a job at Apple, which I aim to be for a long time, I love my job, it’s the first one I’ve loved to go to. The people are so nice and I feel like my job makes a difference.
My relationship with Lili is going so well too. We haven’t exactly set a date for our wedding yet, but we know it’ll be in the next few years, in October. We both agree that Autumn would be a beautiful time to have a wedding. Certainly in colder weather anyway, we figured if it’s cold and sunny - that’d be beautiful. But if it’s cold and rainy, then we’ll just make it cosy. We quite like the idea of a 50’s wedding - not polka-dots and Elvis. But more vintage. I’d love to have something like Bobby Darin’s ‘Dream Lover’ playing at the reception.
We’re also talking about babies quite a bit. We know we both want children together, only real question is when. We don’t want to keep saying ‘now isn’t the right time’ - and end up finding it too late. I reckon there’ll be at least a bun in the oven by this time next year, even if there’s no moses basket in our bedroom by then.
On a sadder note, my grandmother passed away a month ago. I miss her so much, I’m not sure how I feel. She was the nicest lady ever, she loved all of her grandchildren (and her great grandchildren) and she was so funny. Very honest too - she once said that ‘in life there are givers and takers - I’m a taker’. Her funeral was sad, but strangely relieving. Like when you finally get a phone call from someone who said ‘I’ll call you when I get there’ - and then don’t call for hours. The walk from the church to the cemetary felt like that phone call. That’s the closest I can describe it, anyway.
So that’s kind of my life update until this moment. I bought a PS3 as well. But I’ve only got one game for it so far (played it regularly until Skyward Sword came out on the Wii…). I hope I can get on Tumblr a bit more, because I really do miss it, and you guys.

OMG Lili makes this face! It’s when she wants to say ‘no’ to something, but doesn’t want to hurt my feelings.
